From M1 there's a choice of long way round via M62, M66 that I wouldn't like to do Friday or across the Dark Peak via Chesterfield (slow but bearable Friday pm), Chapel en le Frith (stay on by-pass but left at first roundabout for Chinley) then Hayfield, Glossop (A6016 Turnlee Road to by-pass Glossop centre), M57 (Hyde), M60, M66 that's shorter & prettier & avoids Leeds & most of N Manchester congestion although there's a slog up from Chinley then braking all the way down to Hayfield then same again up Chunal from Little Hayfield down to the A6016 (Glossop) the other side.

M66 tends to slow down near Ramsbottom about 6-7pm but only for a few miles. Once onto the A56T (where the 50mph limit starts after the M66 ends) can either go through Haslingden & hang a right at second traffic lights, or go on to Rising Bridge then turn back towards Haslingden & hang a left at first traffic lights.

I'm up for that, as long as Beddie makes it and my health doesn't play up again. In Germany at the moment and heading back soon, so this particular site is about 3000 miles for me, not too far, I have faith in Beddie's supernatural abilities to keep on going...

See you there!

Mike, that's not a problem. I'll add you to the October list.

How to get there

Simplest way from south (M62/M60, M66) & north (A59, M65) is to head for the Rising Bridge roundabout on the A56 (Haslingden by-pass) and take the A680 south to Haslingden -

Landmarks at the roundabout are Little Chef & Macdonalds north of the roundabout and the Winfields Camping & Workwear sign on the south side in the photo. Winfields site is to the left of the A680 near the roundabout.

About a mile from Rising Bridge there's a set of traffic lights: turn left onto Clough End Road -

If coming from the south through Haslingden then it's the second set of traffic lights (first being at Deardengate in the town centre): turn right -

From Blackburn (B6236) it's straight across the lights -

(Tip: if your route wanders a bit around Haslingden then follow brown Winfields signs.)

Follow Clough End Road (speed bumps & lumps & potholes...) -

Turn left onto Laund Lane -

Once past the concrete section of the lane alongside Hardings Valley Skips turn right into Brow Edge Farm -

(If the gates are shut then please close them again once you've gone through.)

Make your way up to the hard standing area -

All being well I should be there from about 1pm Friday.

Thanks Rae.

I forgot postcode for satnav: BB4 5UB but it probably will point to the farm below Brow Edge; it's along Laund Lane anyway.

Is anyone from "darnsarf" going to this who haven't put their name down?
I have some parts I want to get up to Phil if possible.

Are we having a BBQ? Please let me know if I need to bring anything specific.

Apologies too as my van is going to be cleverly disguised as a car and a tent (no mechanical breakdown, just circumstances but I'm still determined to come)

OOps. I still have the BBQ tools. Will reunite them with the BBQ on the oct meet unless someone is passing Stamford en route!

I'm borrowing a gas BBQ for the weekend & can rustle up some utensils.

Dave will pass on the club BBQ to me to store it (he hasn't got room).
