Beddie 2011's Blog

Hi all, we've been on CF-UK for a while, but have never had chance to properly introduce ourselves, so instead of starting alot of little threads for our van, i thought i'd just start a blog, this is our beloved beddie, a 1984 CF Facelift camper, he's got the 2.3 slant engine and 4 speed gearbox. We bought him from Bristol in January, he's got a solid chassis and a good runner of an engine,

he looks tatty in the photos, but after a wash and brush up, he looks good. The main issues on the van are purely cosmetic, and over time want to personalise bedie to our own taste

cab

Over the past few months, we've been working on the van over evenings and weekends, treating and preventing rust, personalising the interior and tidying the cab.

This is what the cab floor looked like

After all the dirt from the foam backed carpet was removed, we found the only rust on the cab, this was ground out and treated

We cut a template out of some spare vinyl flooring, and copied it for the carpet, we bought some plastic backed carpet from an autojumble for a tenner. We layed the vinyl as sound deadening, and then laid the carpet, and siliconed it down.

we then fixed the gaiter in place, and now have a quieter cab, and a decent looking carpet.

We have also been doing some bodywork, filling dents, repainting the grille and also getting the van into primer

When we got the van, the grille and badge were tatty, so we tidied them up, just a shame someone has painted other parts of the van in Dulux

We sanded, primed, painted and laquered the grille, i ncluding silver inserts, which were very faint in the grille

we even repainted the badge

Yesterday afternoon, i spent some time on the van, doing some prep work for paint, most of the front end has been sanded, filled, sanded again, wiped and primed. here are some photos

the blue circles are just imperfections, which need filling
