CF DownUnder

Hi All,

I hope your guys don't mind the odd foreigner crashing the party. I am a true blue kiwi based in New Zealand. I have been looking at taking on a CF project for sometime now, so have been doing my research online. This site seems to be pretty comprehensive. I'm pretty sure a kiwi bedford is the same as the UK counterpart.

I have got my eye on this 1973 CF. It is selling here in NZ for about £800. I haven't been up to see it yet, she is pretty far north, but looks ok to me.

It is currently running a 1600 slant motor, which I would look at replacing. All the Bedfords here have a fair amount of killer rust so that would need sorting also.

I notice there is no side doors on this van.. Is that common, I thought most had a sliding or hinged door on the left..

Anyways, comments welcomed and appreciated.

Cheers.

I'd say that being odd is a prerequisite for owning a beddy!

I'd think that unless it was a home conversion from a work van then there wouldn't be a side door as that would reduce the amount of 'furniture' in the living section.

Yes, it looks ok.. I will get a better idea when I head up to view it this afternoon. I was trying to figure out what model it was and whether it was SWB or LWB. I was looking at the 'sales brochures' on this site and think it is called a Bedford Inca.. Doesn't mean much to me really

Yes, thanks Jim I think you are right.. Anyway, exciting news, I drove an hour and a half north of where I live to check it out.. Looked pretty sweet to me. I paid the princely sum of $1300 NZD about 650 quid. So I am now the new proud owner of a 1973 Bedford CF, with pop top. She has a bit of rust, or quite a lot, so will look at stripping her out soon, sandblasting and starting fresh. I will let you know progress as I go. I will also need to upgrade my membership soon, so I can access your pool of knowledge..

Another Beddy down under

Hi, another new Bedford CF owner here in NZ. Just thought I'd say hi and maybe look at keeping in touch as we progress our projects. Mine is a '78 2300cc stock van. I'll post a few pics in my own introduction shortly.
