Wiper motor and heater blower fuse

Hi all,

Quick question

Can someone check and and tell me what ampage fuses you have fitted for your windscreen wiper motor and heater blower motor please (1973 cf250)

I'm part way through making a new loom for the van

Just to save me having to hook up the ampmeter and test them

Hello... Back in the day the fuse rating for all ccts was 35amps. Made it easy to carry the right spares though. As your rewiring with a different engine see what ratings ford use for the DI engine systems. Make sure you know the maximum current rating of your new wiring as you may need to fit extra fuses or relays. The early cf had a type of bi-metal thermal overload switch on some systems and they can give trouble as they age. The Bedford factory approach was pretty simple as it was a commercial vehicle

Regards Andy

Hi andy thanks for the reply

I've making the loom from scratch - as it will need to be up to the standard of managing the di engine plus some extras I've added (electric windows, central locking, auto lights, auto wipers, keyless ignition etc) I've also designed it with the headlights being relayed to solve the volt drop problems etc

I was thinking they are going to be around 30amps but just wanted to confirm, the problems with doing a amp draw test on the wiper motor is simulating the resistance on the motor etc

But if as standard they are rated at 35amp - I can just wire them with 40amp cable and 35amp fuses to save a bit of time
