Old ?farming? implement

Lin & I love watching Find it,Fix it,Flog it on Channel 4.On one episode they found an implement in a barn that they couldn't find out the use of.They tried various museums etc but all the 'experts' didn't know.
So does anyone here know what it's use could have been.

A is a foot pedal which, when pressed, pulled down bars B.C looked like an opening that something could be placed in.D is a tightening screw, presumably to adjust for various sizes.E is a weight that returned the pedal to it's starting position.
If you want to see the programme it was episode 11 of season 3.Available on catch up.

Hi,

It looks like a device for sealing bottles or jars such as preservative, treacle maybe because it was used as an additive in cattle feed.

Thanks for the response chaps.I don't think it could be either of those. The opening C is at a right angle to the 'presser' so anything in a bottle/jar would spill out.

When I showed it to her (indoors) she said `google it`. But that didn`t go. I think that Gethin is nearly there, `cos it`s a wine cork REPLACER. You can tell by the shiny metal at C that confirms it. Or it could be a home made Rabbi replacer
