Welsh Heartlands Autofest

An invitation to start the 2008 season off with a great weekend in South Wales.
The Welsh Heartlands Autofest takes place over the spring weekend of 19-20th Aporil at the Civic Centre & Country Park, Blackwood near Caerphilly.
Over 200 vehicles already entered (1.November)and we have a special place for the CF campervans.
This promises to be a great weekend to remember, over 500 vehicles expected, the largest ever gathering of Sinclair C5s to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Hoover factory up the road in Merthyr where they were made, live bands on the outside stage both days , Saturday Night is Valley's Sound Wave rocking through till midnight with bands from Wales,England, and Germany and that hot all girl band,Toffees from the Czech Republic and the food court will be open until late serving everything from mouth watering Welsh faggots & peas, to fish & chips, Thai and Indian food, Cornish Pasty bar and bangers and mash.
Sunday sees free bus trips aboard vintage buses and our special Heartland Sunday Gulas, a European Folk music and dance presentation with bands and dancers from all over. There is also Celtic Wrestling both days.

Now if you don't want to book into this super weekend festival, I guess your not taxed and tested !

There's Malvern the week before, it is only listed as 1 day the 13 April so don't know if there's any camping (Friday or Saturday)

reply from organisers

John Evans
Chairman
Rhymney Valley Transport Preservation Society

BARGOED CF81 8PA

Good Morning Roi

We have had a couple of your boys already book in, they mentioned the club on their pre.registrations forms.

So to answer your question. At the moment there is no charge for you to have an area, but there might have to be a symbolic fee paid to the council, nothing major and I do not know if they will want it or not, this year they said we had to collect it and then we forgot and they said OK, next time !!!

Pets, a lot depends on what they are, this year we had a few small dogs, two persian cats and a parrot !!!!

BUT, large dogs could be a problem as we will have dog security overnight and we do not want any confrontations or noise to disturb others.

So to conclude, you can tell your boys and gals, if there is something to pay it will be small, and small dogs and all other pets allowed, but question mark over anything bigger but we will listen to all pleas from concerned owners and will surely come to a compromise.

This event is organised to help us promote our ambitious plans to establish a working motor & transport museum in the old stone quarries at Risca near Newport.

We will be donating any profit to the Wales Air Ambulance.

There will be

over 500 exhibits
live music programme both days
Saturday night Sound Wave folk and country rock bands and Sunday Gulas a pure folk day with music and dancers from several countries
celtic wrestling both days
other entertainment
Food Court with all different types of hot food available - this is NOT a burgers and beer event !!!! We will have traditional Welsh menu, fish & chips, Thai food, Indian Food, Cornish pasty van, Welsh oggies, hot potatoes, bagettes and salad bar and usual coffee units and bar.

All we ask is that your members remember that we are inviting people to see vehicles, we do no want a group to come along and do their own thing and forget people are paying to see vehicles. So we ask that the vehicles are arranged in order to provide that possibility, if you wanted to just come and park up and enjoy the event, then of course we would have to charge everyone the normal public entry fee.

I hope that is fair and understood Roi.

PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD, we are looking for the maxi9mum number of vehicles here from Sinclair C5s to double decker buses.

All the best, any questions just fire them over 24-7

IF you register from now there is a place for motor caravans, thanks for bringing that omission to our attention.

If you have already registered, its not a problem so please do not register again.

It would seem to be individual bookings and the first one there save us all a place.
i have got dispensation for my dogs so we can go now. [he loved em, i sent him a pic]
there doesn't seem to be a charge for the event so book away lads and lasses.
Malvern will be up to whoever runs it ie Solar was very successful last time.

Hmmmmmm.....I've just registered. Looks like I'll have to finish the old bus now. One good thing, if it's raining and it's still leaking I can go home at night to a dry bed, it's only just up the road

Hello all, have just been for a chat with John Evans the Chairman of the Group who are running the show. He is Very confident that this show is going ahead next April. The show was not cancelled last year The Council moved the Venue, from the Grass field to the Council Offices car park at the last minute because of the heavy rainfall in the preceeding few days. To avoid any problems this year the council have agreed to make their car park available FROM 6pm on the Friday Evening until 8AM on the following Monday Morning For Exhibitors. There are also a couple of grass fields which have been earmarked as overflow which depending on weather may be available for the campers. Their is also a Staff Club on the premises which they are negotiating to be opened over the weekend to exhibitors. Their is a lot of organising in progress and hopefully it will all fall into place on time. At the moment their is no charge for exhibitors but bearing in mind that a donation will be made to the Air Ambulance service some help from us will be appreciated. I will try to keep you all posted of any developments, and any questions please ask Regard's David.

Welsh Heartlands Autofest

Just a small correction to Dave from Hengoeds posting, Dave is on the spot, being less than three miles from this show !

The main show will be in the parkland, the car parks which hold around 300 cars will be used for the heavy vehicles like Scammells and double decker buses.

As the CF club will be on the parkland, the need to up and away by 8.00am is not required, only the car parks will be "reclaimed" by council, empoyees and visitors at 8.00am.

With regard to dogs, I am afraid it is too early to say if dogs will or will not be allowed due to council controls over dog fouling on public assessable parkland, police dog patrols on Saturday evening and the organisers own security dog patrol, this is not in the hands of the organisers Roi, and so far, the meeting on the details has not taken place I am afraid Roi.
