Welsh Heartlands and Dogs

Roi,

I am sorry but regarding dogs, this event is co.organised by the Welsh Transport Heritage Museum, Rhymney Valley Transport Preservation Society ,the South Wales Land Rover Club and the Caerphilly County Borough Council.

There is a central co.ordinator between the four parties and liasing with the Gwent Police.

I believe that the chairman of the RVTPS spoke in favour of your dogs, but that does not amount to or was intended to convey permission to bring them overnight !

As it stands now, the situation is as it stated on the website, NO dogs are allowed, however dispensation was made in 2007 for small dogs, and this matter will now be raised at the next meeting with all parties on Tuesday 4th December.

On one side we have what appear to be nice dogs, on the other side we have both police and security dogs on site on Saturday from 17.00, risk factors ,possible annoyance to other campers, dog mess, council local by-laws and resultant insurance matters to consider.

Not wishing to sound over official, but this will hopefully be a well organised event with a lot of room, but the organisers will say where clubs will stand, it is not a free for all. However, if any member of this club wishes to attend a meeting to discus a preferred location within the site, they are more than welcome to do so.

Borecman
(aka Event Co.ordinator)

PS I have five Munsterlanders who go everywhere with me, but not to this show .

Hi John and all,
Regarding your post John I have today been to see John Evans at Bargoed and told him about the concerns that we have regarding the show next April. He has invited me to the meeting on Tuesday night, which is being held in a local Hostelry. Apart from the Dog situation if anyone has any other points to raise, please feel free to PM me or post them on the web. John wants this show to be a success and the more exhibits the better.

Regards David.

Autofest.

Hello all, just an update on the meeting held last night.
The event will definately take place on the date's published.
There are still a lot of loose ends to be tied up by the organiser's, due to the various groups being invited to take part.
The council official, who was at last nights meeting is going to clarify the dog situation with the local authorities and report back to the organisers.
If we as a Club can draw up a list of members who wish to attend then it will give the organisers of the event a better idea of the space we would require.
I will try to keep the site updated as things develope.
Regards David.

It was good to meet with David Jamieson last Tuesday on his home turf in Hengoed, South Wales.

As previously stated all matters were discussed re. the CF Club concerns and wish list and Caerphilly Council Executive member Keith Griffiths has already raised certain matters with council officers and I have likewise conveyed these to the Gwent Police Inspector in charge of the policing of the event.

Regretably because of the rapid approach of the Chrsitmas season, things are likely to be a little slow or not move at all until the New Year, so please consider these factors.

In future all matters concerning the CF Club's attendance at the Welsh Transport Festival will flow through David as the on the spot liason.

Welsh Heartlands Autofest

Hello all, I was made very welcome at the site meeting yesterday.
There were many issues discussed and several positive decisions reached.
Regarding the Bedford CF group there are a few alternative places that we can be placed. one is at the bottom of the first long car park on the right as one enters the site. It is on a bit of a slope but is on tarmac. The down side of this site is that it will be close to the bandstand which will be on the field in front of the council offices. This will host live groups until late on saturday night. anyone not happy with this site please let me know.
Depending on the Weather there are other parts of the grounds that we can use if it is dry and a few even if it is not.
there is going to be a site meeting a few days before the event where a final decision can be made on where we are put.
It would help a great deal if we knew who is comeing so that we know what area we require.
when registering please make sure that you book as the cf club as ambulances go into a different category to campers and the intention is to issue different coloured window stickers to each category and so we would be split up if registered as different classes.
Any one wishing to view the site it can be seen on google earth by entering NP12 2YW UK and pressing enter.
Regarding dogs i think there is a requirement somewhere in the registration to state what breed of dog you have etc; this will be clarified at a later date. Any queeries please contact me and i will look into it. Regards David.

Don't let them fool you!

Having had a hands-on experience with the organizers and festival coordinators of this "festival"....

Here are my 5 cents:

do not trust them ... do not believe anything they say. Take great care.
They talk sweetly and try to baffle you.
In the end, there is nothing solid, but lots of promisses.

Do yourself a favor: Get information about the financial background of this festival and their organizers, this should help you to see the whole picture.

I'm the manager of a german rockband "The Backtracks" supposed to perform on this autofest.

Welsh Heartlands Festival

UPDATE, The Council were apparently unaware of the size that this festival was going to be. They were under the impression that it would be of a similer size to last year. AS there are a few fields around the council buildings, it was planned to use these for some of the events. Such as a stage area for the bands and a ring for the wrestling as well as a place for the catering trailers. There was also a field earmarked for the Land Rover off road display.
Unfortunately the coucil has now informed the organisers that they will be unable to use most of the field's as there are covenants protecting ancient flora and fauna on the fields.Hence no Stageing etc on the grassland.
This should not affect the presence of the CF UK members except for the time of arrival:after 4;30 Friday and departure Before 7:30 Monday morning. Anyone wishing to stay on a campsite locally before or after the event please let me know and I will try to find something to suit. Regards David.
