switch on clutch

Hello there bedheads, ive just changed the clutch on my 88 midi (petrol). i noticed on the clutch pedal theres some kinda switch, anyone got any idea what the devil its for?

help.

Coasting enrichment to prevent the engine stalling.

One side is wired to the accelerator pedal switch then fuel pump relay.

The the other side is wired to 1/2 gear switch & 3/4 gear switch (these are in parallel with each other) then to the fuel enrichment solenoid (light green wire).
