Bedford CF 89

Hi all interested Bedford owners,

Three weeka ago I bought this very sad thirty year old hightop camper
which did not look too bad for its age, and the price was fairly low.
Recorded milage reads 77,000 miles, don't know if thats correct but its on the last three MOT certs.
At the moment I have started work on the machanical side, it was running if you can call it that when I drove it home, with on power a limited speed of fifty five MPH and no fuel gauge reading.
But now that it has been parked up in the lovely scottish weather, it leaks in several places, I feel a bit like Noha, haven't found any livestock yet so thats a plus.
It has MOT on it until march, I wonder where he got that done, because in my last job before I retired I was a MOT tester, and this old lady would not have passed on my watch.
But in three weeks it has came a long way, with a new timing belt and the distributer re positioned, points cleaned and set, plugs cleaned and set, starts first flick of the key.
I had to fit new headlights because the old ones were so rusted you did not know if they were on, front shocks had lost all there oil so managed to track down new ones, got them fitted today.
Got the oil and filter changed and checked gearbox and diff, repaired the rear propshaft joint, but found no wiring to the rear lights just a lot of nice blue connectors and a tow bar socket tied to the chassis with a cable tie, nice!
So no rear lights, had to run new cables from front to back and change a number of bulbs, I now have side fog and reverse lights, just in time for Christmas, have to get someone famous to come and switch them on.
Today I have had a good look at the engine wiring, wow! that is something to behold and yet it is working, it does run, I only went under there to reset the carb.
Having read all this if you think I am mad just say so I won't mind the rest of the family already think I am off my trolly for buying this peace of history.

if you have read it thank you, Regards, Doug.

I'll bet the blue connectors in the rear wiring were exposed to whatever sprayed up from the road too...

Yes!

Daft really because most trailer socket leads are long enough to reach through the floor in the corner & up to the lamp cluster wiring on panel vans.
