A good way of compressing the springs is either use a trolley jack under the bottom arm.

Another is to disconnect the shocker and move it to one side then using a strong threaded bar with a 2nuts at the top and 1 at bottom.

Using the holes where the shocker fits insert the bar and wind the bottom nut up so it compresses the bottom arm with spring.

still waiting for my ecu to come back with some more wires so decided to investigate the cab floor. the nearside was great only had a little surface rust here and there and the off side just needed 2 patches . i managed to get the offside suspension back on and mounted my disc setup, looks like the mk1 had a different flexi hose to the mk2. the calipers were nice and free and the discs look fine, i will get new pads and discs when i stumble across some. i used the jack and some long bolts to wind the inside of the wishbone into place in the end, thanks gethin

winter break is over but im saddled with too much work and diy to do much. all the suspension is together now i'm trying to find some info on upgrading my standard cf calipers but i can wait for that. paying a friend to do some of the electrics for me as i just dont have the time at the moment, hopefully have the leisure battery split charger and ecu wired in in a fortnight. bought a new cat converter/ downpipe and discovered it clashes with the gearbox cradle so ill need to get some pipe angles and stuff and see if i can re-route the exhaust, not going to do much else until the engine runs then i can see what i can get rid of and what needs manufacturing, i may have to move the steering column a few inches to the right for clearance by the clutch pedal.

Interesting conversion this one, but cutting up the floor is always a problem..
I would look into modifying the manifolds rather than loosing foot room.

im looking at the 8v inlet manifold, this may fit, the 8v head fits with a spacer gasket then you have an rs2300 engine. ill have to use up some of the floor because the engine is very tall due to some strange balance shafts or something that they have in the block that makes the engine smoother.
