April Meet

The date has been posted on the Shakespeare site for their April steam rally which Kieth Shakespeare said we could attend as our CF-UK collectively, so If anyone is interested please say below, so I can let him know how many are going. There is no charge for this event, the details are below, please ask if theres anything you are unsure of that you can't find from the link. This is a great event with live entertainment and other events included.

regards - Wayne.

We will try to be there
Do we have to book or can we just turn up
If we can just turning up it will be best for
me at the moment because of work as dates keep changing

Dee / Tim, It might be best to just fill in the form via the website as thats what most of us do. i just wanted a rough idea of how many were going to let Kieth (shakespeare) know so he can allocate an area for us. He is pretty relaxed about things and will accomodate us as a CF group which will dispence the need to concern ourselves with van ages as some rally's state pre 78 vehicles. As Nigel says some have already booked. If you haven't been before I don't think you will be disappointed. Let me know if you have any problems and I will speak to Kieth direct, look forward to seeing all who go soon, can't wait for the season to start again.

Booking is best really, but if you do so and find you can't make it they won't be offended you can always catch the next one.

Hi Dave just read this, Yes we're hoping to do Pickering, we have sent the form but I thought I'd wait for a reply before adding to the list. We would like to have added our 1965 moped but but can't seem to get anyone from the bike section to sort us out on this. either way we hope we can get in because it was a great event last year.

Hi Wayne, If you have sent your form off and your waiting for a reply you have a long wait Pickering normaly send there passes out a week before the show. I am having the same problem as you I have emailed them for a form for a classic caravan and a pedal cycle and they are not replying. If you want to enter your moped at pickering the guy you want is Peter Taylor 07981 433980 give him a call.

Sorry I missed this one... finding it hard to get away from work and whenever I do I tend to spend it with my family, who can't really join me such a caper... Littlest girl is only 15 months and not really the kind of 15 month old that you can prop up in the back of a van for a 300 mile drive plus expect to sleep in a tent.

She's a bit, well... noisy.

One day I'll actually get to a meet. That really was the intention when buying the van... something out of the ordinary so I can go on meetups.

Don't worry Tim, quite a few of us have children, and by their very nature they are noisy (the children that is!). Camping is great for little ones as you don't have to be so fussy. Mine have all been camping since they were born - just have to go with the flow

Hmmm, camping is great for SOME little ones. My littlest one however, has tried it twice and kept the entire campsite awake both times, so we're not going to be chancing it again until she's at least 4. Camping always seems to coincide with extreme teething trouble.

As I said to you in reply to you PM, I can't find the USB lead to upload any. So feel free to delete it, if I haven't done so by then, I only offered to facilitate this, as a falling out between some people at the time had caused a void. I'm not interested in being a rally organiser and in all honesty I didn't really see this as one. It was a steam rally as far as I was concerned and a meet next. I don't do politics unless pushed, I take my camper van to places and relax, and as I do more rallys now than meets it would be prudent to get someone who is actually interested in meets to take it up !!

Whilst I'm happy to attend meets if they are local or of an interest to us, I would not choose an empty field over a rally that has live entertainment, auto jumble, auctions and a collection of vintage vehicle displays to name only a few of the things they provide - surely the amount of people showing an interest in Pickering confirms that I am not alone in these thoughts, and finally whilst some of the amenities (portaloo's) are not endearing to some, they are certainly no worse, than those at some meets I could mention !
