Cold start. Hi to all,The old Bedford only just managed to start this morning but it was very cold up here so it is to be expected, I think the starter dogged bottom pulley and starter handle may get priority over the other jobs on the list. doujoy ---------------------- |

Is your van parked close to your house? I had a small fan heater fitted into my engine compartment (and in the camper too)& during the winter months would have it connected to a timer in the outhouse that would switch it on every couple of hours to stop the engine from getting too cold.Being a diesel engine it needed a bit of help.I could also turn it on manually an hour before we needed to use it.Lovely & toastie inside! ---------------------- |

Heaters. Hi bluebedouin,I think my main problem is the fact that the battery is open to the frost being mounted under the door-step on the side of the chassis, I am going to encase it in polystyrene it apparently is the best insolation against frost and cold air. But with the ground frost we get up here I have fitted wooden under trays to try to stop the engine oil from going thick with the cold, which slows down the turn-over starter speed by putting a drag on the crank-shaft. doujoy ---------------------- |
